Earthquakes Rock New Zealand
..A string of magnitude 5+ earthquakes have hit New Zealand, beginning with a 7.1 magnitude quake in Christchurch early on Sunday morning (NZ time). This is the strongest recorded earthquake in NZ history.
..In the 48 hours following the first hit, Christchurch has experienced over 100 aftershocks, many of which measured over magnitude 5. Water and power is still unavailable throughout much of New Zealand´s second largest city.
..As Christchurch reels from extensive damage, at 11am this morning (7 Sept), Hawkes Bay, a region 600km away from Christchurch (370 miles) was hit with a 5.2 magnitude quake.
..While several people have been injured by the quakes, none have perished.

Paris Hilton Got Out of Jail in Half The Normal Time
..Paris Hilton was arrested lately for cocaine possession. Later on she said neither the drug, nor the purse it was in, was hers.
..Now officials reveal that the celebrity got out of jail in about half the normal time. The reason allegedly was to reduce distractions.
.."When you bring somebody in like that, everybody comes over and tries to look at them. I´d have officers attempting to keep inmates away from her. I´d have disruptions", Police Deputy Chief Jim Dixon said. Next month Hilton is due in court.

..In an interview with People magazine, the "LA Ink" star Kat Von D (Katherine Von Drachenberg) confirmed she is in love with Sandra Bullock´s ex-husband Jesse James.
..Tattooed Kat von D recently posted on Twitter that she is dating Jesse James, but then deleted the message. "Jesse is only my ninth boyfriend. I don´t hang out with anybody unless I am in love", she said in the interview.

Study: Osteoporosis Drug May Double Risk of Cancer
..A new study by researchers of the University of Oxford´s Cancer Epidemiology Unit and the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Acency suggests that the long-term use of a certain osteoporosis drug may double the risk of esophageal cancer.
..Researchers in Britain studied 2,954 people with esophageal cancer, 2,018 with stomach cancer and 10,641 with colorectal cancer. Esophageal cancer, however, is said to be uncommon. Dr. Jane Green, the lead author of the study said the following:
.."The increased risks we found were in people who used oral bisphosphonates for about five years, and even if our results are confirmed, few people taking bisphosphonates are likely to develop esophageal cancer as a result of taking these drugs".
